I see the most complaining about a person not being where they need to be in life whether it concerns weight, financial stability, job promotions, relationship desires, etc. Having all these people in our ears telling us Who, What, When, Where and How about our lives does not necessarily give us the push we need.
You are always calling on the Lord, but what are YOU truly doing to fix it? I am a firm believer that ‘God helps those who helps themselves.’
I noticed when I started out on my “own” I was so happy to be out of the house doing my own thing, although, I did have a stable job, I was not necessarily making the right decisions. I was sad, angry, or felt stuck and lost most of the time. I noticed I was not happy and I realized why I was not happy. I left “God” out of the equation, fulfilling fleshly desires seemed more important at the time. We are all guilty of this, we think we can direct and guide our own lives, that is, until we fall flat on our behinds. And, then who do we decide to call on after the fact? God! We begin spouting out all the bible verses, creating inspirational quotes about being uplifted, recording the Sunday church service and posting it online, or my favorite, posting some NARCISSISTIC selfie with the caption “God got me” or “Why y’all sleeping on me?” and so on and so forth. Like, Why do you need someone’s validation on your life?
In our Sunday School lesson, my teacher asked, “What can a non-believer ask God?” Now I know what you are thinking, well if you are raised in the church and even got baptized wouldn’t God be able to hear your cry for help? Logically, the answer would be yes! But that is not true. At this time ask yourself if you truly believe that God will take care of all of your troubles.
Just because we are Christian does not mean that we have truly accepted Christ. In these amateur stages of our lives we do not seek the Holy Spirit for guidance, and although, we know what is “right” due to being raised in the church, we still decide to do the “wrong” thing. Although, we think we believe, we keep doubting the Lord, that is not believing. Therefore, we are calling on the Lord’s name in vain.
So the answer to the question, “What can non-believers ask God?” The only thing they can ask for is salvation, which is “deliverance from sin and its consequences” through Jesus Christ. With accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord we are given new life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (bible.knowing-jesus.com).
With this new life the feeling of oppression, sadness, and anger do not exist. We even find ourselves worrying less and doing more in 24 hours, 7 days a week, and 365 days in the year. Instead of complaining about starting school, we enroll in school and obtain that degree. Instead of complaining about how heavy your size is, you begin running around the track. Instead of complaining about a job, you start filling out job applications and submitting them. Instead of complaining about not having a stable relationship, stop dogging every man or woman that enters in your life. Instead of complaining how you need to get back in church, just GO!!!
You are the only person holding yourself back from happiness! Stop stopping yourself from making choices that will benefit you! Most of all stop letting everyone know your next move, because when you are doing something for self, you only need the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ, and God!
John 16:24 “Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (English Standard Version).
Once, you receive your blessings do not forget to return the Lord’s needs and wants, and that is for us to do work in furthering His kingdom by loving our neighbors, being honest, helping others that are less fortunate, and spreading the Word and love of God!
Now, are you truly ready to start living?
